And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
Joshua 23:14 KJV
Someone says that God’s promises are the containers of God’s blessings. Gift Mona describes faith as ”…a commitment to stay focused on the fulfilment of God’s promises.” Isaac Watts surmises that, he believes the promises of God enough to venture an eternity on them. What’s so special about the promises of God? A promise is a declaration or assurance that God will do something or that a particular thing will happen or not happen to a person(s). When God gives a promise, it is, ” … rock-solid, unequivocal commitments made by God Himself. Because God is faithful, the recipients of the divine promises can have full assurance that what God has pledged will indeed be realized (Numbers 23:19)”. The song writer says we must keep standing on the promises of God. Today our text reminds us through Joshua that Gods promises had come to pass, so the people of Israel could afford to trust him more. Today some leaders are casual in their promises. In the New Testament, God is still good in his promises. God has promised that all things will work out for good for His children (Romans 8:28). God has also promised to finish every work He has started with us( Phil.1:6 ) There is a promise for every need of a child of God. If I know your need, we can find the promises….audacious promises.
