When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them: according to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnath-serah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.
Joshua 19:49-50 KJV
Leadership is a public service. It can only be compensated by God. A leaders call can not be adequately compensated. Someone says the call to lead similar to what Joshua did should be considered to include: Being the Visionary.,being a Strategist, establishing Communications, being an effective Role Model., being a- Talent Advocator, and an Inspiration to others. By the time you finish that, you will have no time left for your profits. So God has a divine package of compensation for such leaders. In this passage, Joshua got his severance pay when he was given Timnath-serah as his personal city. It is a righteous thing for God to compensate you: Heb.6:10; 1Pet.5:10. When Peter told Jesus that they have left all to follow him, Jesus gave an excellent reply in Mat.19:27-28. If we leave all to follow him, we will definitely be compensated. Compensation here means a reward for obedience. You can’t serve God genuinely without a blessing. Some of them may come years after you are gone. For just using Peters boat to preach, Jesus so compensated the man that the man left his fishing job to follow him. What have you left to follow him? There’s a compensation on the way.
