God Does Not Lie

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 KJV

Our attention was drawn to this theme in when in 2015 Bishop Obembe reported in an article that, ” ALTHOUGH all things are possible with God, but THREE THINGS ARE IMPOSSIBLE with Him: He cannot LIE, He cannot DIE and He cannot FAIL ”. As we meditated on these words in the course of this study, it reminded us of a little publication by Amazon titled, 3 Things God cannot Do. The author of the little book tract had put this differently. He says that God cannot lie, change or allow sinners into heaven. Apparently, Balaam had touched on a peculiar attribute of God that runs through both the Old and the New Testament. Here are a few Bible verses on this subject: 1Sam.15:29, Heb.6:8, Psa.89:35. Obembe continued in a very sarcastic frame that: ” A cow cannot fly, a fish cannot walk and a pig cannot bark. So, it is impossible for God to act or tell a lie ”. It took an encounter for this to find this out. The implications for us is deep. We can dare to trust what God has spoken. Even when it appears that God has failed us, we can be rest assured he has not deceived us. We can take the word of God to any where and it will not be affected by economic shifts in the market. People may change under pressure. They may be coerced to say things they did not mean, but Gods word is: Yeah and Amen. The consciousness of this attribute should keep us focused. God is too faithful to His word to allow it to fail.
