But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her. And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel. Joshua 6:22‭-‬23 KJV

Great leaders keep their words. They don’t have to do a pinky finger for the people to believe them. Mark Donovan observes that this may not always be the truth for some leaders. Here is Donovan, ” Even great leaders and their teams have problems keeping their word They say they’re going to take on a task, but for reasons — good or bad — they don’t complete the task”. When leadership slid into this, it destroys the confidence of its people. Here is Donovan again,” These leaders and teams are well-meaning. But when they let other things get in their way, it wears on them. They take a hit in their confidence and their reputation. They start to feel dangerously under pressure, while their capabilities erode. They doubt themselves ”. This was not with Joshua and the spies. They remembered their words. The reason we are holding unto Jesus is the fact that he told us he will be back ( John14:3 ). Unlike some political leaders, Jesus’ word is yea and amen. In a blog post, Craig Tekel says, ” Keeping promises is one of those playground skills that follows us right through our lives, into our offices”. Its more so if Christ is your saviour.
