Obedience, Leadership And Discovery

Then Moses said to the people, “Obey all the laws that I am teaching you, and you will live and occupy the land which the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. Do not add anything to what I command you, and do not take anything away. Obey the commands of the Lord your God that I have given you. Deuteronomy 4:1‭-‬2 GNT

There’s a tendency to think that Moses was addressing the entire crowd at once. Its a simple mistake to make. By now, the entire population were in millions, and Moses was an old man of about one hundred and twenty years. This had to be a meeting of select leaders. Now Moses zeroes in on obedience to the law as a secret for success in the land. Obedience to Gods precepts was then, and is now the secret to victory and prosperity. On November, 7th, 2013, Hilsong Austrakia, published a write up with these words: ” Leadership Discovery Depends on Obedience. Where you are right now is one thing, but where you want to go, surely that’s what you’re committed to. A major goal of our leadership journey is how we go from ‘here’ (where we are right now), to ‘there’ (the place that God is bringing us to)”. To succeed in this journey, we must learn to obey God. Obedience is ” compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another’s authority”. It looks as simple as that, but generates great conflict among so many people who want to do what they like. Richard Krejcir has explored the character of obedience, He says, ” Obedience is not Willfulness, or having a strong willed mindset, rather it is our lining up with His precepts and call. It is the self-surrender of our will so we become less in our spirit and more in His Spirit”. That self surrender is the requirement today.
