This verse touches on a very large subject: sexual boundaries. Anica oaks describe the subject as, ” … the lines that we draw around our sexual behavior. They tell us what is okay for us to do and with whom. They are the guidelines we use to decide how far we want to go and what kind of sexual activities feel safe and comfortable for us ”. Before humans decided on those guidelines, God had drawn divine boundaries around sexual activities. This verses address the matter. Today some people make it look like its glamour for a brother to sleep with a sister, or for a father to crave the daughter, or to partake of bestial activity with an animal( v.23 ). The devil’s intention is to break all boundaries, just to perpetuate sexual sins. These activities are not just sins, they defile the land. A defiled land swallows its inhabitants in retrogression, death and sickness. Several other things may contribute the defilement, but indiscriminate sexual sins are primary. The chapter gives this defilement as a reason God threw out the original inhabitants of the land. It may happen as a secret, but it will compromise the integrity of a home or a place. It grants legal grounds for the land to spew out its inhabitants. The beauty of being in Christ is that these sins can be broken and a new foundation laid for a progressive people, nation and the land.

Sexual Boundaries
None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord. The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
