Strangers In Priestly Clothings

And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

On the 20th of July, 2022, a political party in Nigera hit the news headlines. They were caught on camera hiring thugs and the dregs of the society, to dress them in priestly clothings to represent the Christian community in their party’s inauguration of a running mate It was the sacrilege of the highest order. You could notice that they had no costumier to do the dressing properly. One in particular wore a Catholic Priest’s dress that could only be worn during the serving of mass. Some costumed ”Bishops”, were seen carrying chairs, because no provisions were made for them. Later some of those miscreants were caught in the market looking for jobs. They were confronted by the general population. What those folks did was to cross into the Priestly office. They probably got paid, but the story has not ended there. They crossed a sacred line. Beyond the line, God is in charge. In the time of Aaron and for the people of Israel, the story would have ended sooner. Today, grace has taken over the law. They may still be breathing air, but they have laid a bad foundation for their offsprings. God was conscious of the nature of man, so He gave a standing order in the verse above. The Priesthood was and is a very serious business. Eli children died for it. Today, there nay be marketers in the pulpit, and preachers in the market, but Gods standard remains the same.
