Followership is ” the capacity or willingness to follow a leader ”. It is not everyone who can follow. Achan demonstrates that he was not a good follower. Followership is the other side of leadership. Without it, leadership does not exist. Someone says that, ” Followership is the ability to accomplish goals under a leader’s direction. Successful followership involves following instructions, completing assigned tasks, supporting initiatives and being motivated. Good followers see the value in listening to others and helping achieve their vision. Followership in the workplace emphasizes holding yourself to a high standard of personal success while contributing to the overall benefit of the team ”. I’m not sure Achan was taught that. He behaved like most ordinary Christians will do today. The editorial team of indeed.com points out fourteen qualities of what a follower should have. They include, loyalty, ego management, work ethic, courage, tact, teamwork, good judgement, adaptability, competency etc. Achan demonstrates that he lacked all to be a follower. He was selfish, self centered, and greedy. How are the people in your team? If I know your team, I can predict with a certain level of competency what your end will be like. Jesus had a team who were willing to die for the cause. We are here today because of them. Our followers need training and retraining to keep their focus on the fear of God.
