In Gen.50:25, we reported Joseph’s request not to be left in Egypt. In that vignette of March,23,2022, we mentioned that, Joseph, like Jacob, wanted to be a partaker of the resurrection, so he took an oath of the people of Israel that his bones will not be left in Egypt. Today, the bones were let to rest. One scholar calculates his years: ” Joseph died in about 1585 BC. The Israelites left Egypt 139 years later in 1446 BC.Joseph’s bones were finally buried (Jos 24:32) after they entered Canaan under the leadership of Joshua in about 1406 BC. So the total time from Joseph’s death to his burial in Canaan was about 179 years.” What a time! Eric Watkins in Tabletalk Magazine is very inspirational on this subject, ”Joseph believed that God was not only the maker of covenant promises but was also the keeper of those promises, and that in time, God would again visit His people and fulfill His promises.” The faith of Joseph was rooted in Gods promise of Gen.15 to take them to the land of promise. What have you seen as Gods promise to you in the word? You can hold unto it. Heb.11:22 reports how the story ended. Joseph gave instructions concerning his bones. You’ve waited a while, don’t forget that God owns the time. If the bones of Joseph got to the cave of Macphellah, you will get into destiny.
