This title raises the old age question: Can a Christian be cursed? Without an open edge, a Christian may not be cursed ( Prov.26:2b ). The blood of Jesus is so powerful it will rise on the Christian’s behalf ( Rom..8:1 ). That being said, a Christian may be cursed if there is a an open edge or sin in the Christian’s life. Some Christians may inherit family curses dating back into history. If the christian is ignorant, that Christian may suffer the consequences of these family curses. Derek Prince and Chavda Mahesh have done extensive work in this area that it is worth a study. A curse is, ” an appeal to some supernatural power to inflict evil on someone or some group ”. Wikipedia is more detailed in its explanation: ” A curse (also calledan imprecation, malediction, execration, malison, anathema, or commination) is any expressed wish that some form of adversity or misfortune will befall or attach to one or more persons, a place, or an object.:’ A blessing on the other hand is: “the act or words of one that blesses,” or “a thing conducive to happiness or welfare ” of someone or people. Blessings may also be hereditary. By this invocation from Balaam, Balak had intended to have an edge over Israel. Prov.26:27 states the consequences for anyone trying to dig a pit for the innocent. Your salvation is your introduction into your blessings. Uproot every curses and let the Balaks of life perish.
