The Charge to the Judges

And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him. Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. Deuteronomy 1:16‭-‬17 KJV

Moses is still speaking. He’s so determined to set things right before leaving. In this matter he knew he was in the will of God. I can imagine the angels who were meant to escort him home pacing up and down. That’s not in the story. Its my mind. Then Moses came to the Judges. On June 28,2022, Edoba Omoregie explained in the Nigerian Guardian that the role of the judiciary ” is not merely adjudicatory, which can also be performed by any other non-public institution…..it is…., in a broader sense, the role of the judiciary is to sustain the nation-state and promote its perpetual existence through an unbiased dispensation of justice ”. That is its intention in a nation whose focus is for the peace of its people. The Judiciary is thus, a part of the constitutional framework alongside the Executive and the Lawmakers. Moses schooled in the monarchical system of Egypt Universities. This idea must have come not just from his father in law, but from God. After the Nigerian elections and the accompanying outcry, the hope of the people should be on the judiciary. Every judicial officer should read these verses. It should also be a guidance on our daily dealings with men.
