The Curse Of Joshua

And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it. Joshua 6:26 KJV

Joshua spoke a curse upon whoever rebuilt Jericho. He totally dedicated the place to the Lord. About five hundred and thirty years later, a man by name Hiel rebuilt Jericho. The reason was because of it’s strategic location. Even sons of the prophets lived there. The nagging question is ; Did they ever attend Bible studies to learn what was spoken concerning the land? Nothing kills faster than spiritual ignorance. The time passed, but the curse remained. Isn’t it probable that out of the pressure of living, men have nowadays occupied, ignorantly, what were once considered evil and accused homes? We are not concerned with fear, but with the casualness of handling spiritual decisions. When Hiel started rebuilding Jericho, his firstborn died. When completed the gates, his last born died, in accordance with the word spoken by Joshua( 1 Kings16:34 ). Why didn’t he do something about that curse? Ignorance. Ignorance is worse than demonic oppression. Someone says, ” Better be unborn than untaught, for ignorance is the root of misfortune ”.Robert Browning says ignorance is not innocence, but sin. Mat.22:29, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and the Sadducees for their ignorance. Hoshea 4:6 addresses matters of ignorance. Later, the sons of the prophets told Elijah to do something about Jericho. He did. In 2Kings 2:18-22, the curse was removed. If it was spoken by man, another anointed can remove the curse. If it was spoken by angels, Jesus has remove the curse. For Gods sake, you can do something about any curse.
