The Death of Joshua: Fulfilling Gods Word.

And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land. And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old. Judges 2:6‭-‬8 KJV

This is the end of two generations of leadership from Moses. God has been faithful to Israel. Today they gathered at Bochim to receive the rebuke of God’s angel for failing to effectively finish the occupation as God had directed. Instead, they had simply absorbed the inhabitants of the land. This was Joshua’s last talk. They all fired up and returned with a fresh zeal to occupy the land. Then Joshua died. What a journey. Every leader gets to an end. How you prepare for that end is very important subject. For Moses, and Joshua, they left in style after addressing the people. Jacob had called his children together, and gave them prophetic words. The night before the master died, he had called the disciples together for a meal and parting words. These meetings are vision directed meetings for those left behind. Its one last attempt to impact the future. Don’t just live for the moment. Ask God for opportunity to speak into the future before departure. After Joshua, the era of mega leadership ceased in Israel. Next will be a season of the Judges. Joshua was the last of this era. Gods word did not fail. It won’t fail for your generation.
