The First Assignment

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Joshua 1:2 KJV

The direction of a leader is known by the earliest assignments the leader decides to tackle. That is when you have a choice to pick what to do. Usually some leaders will take on some signature projects. Well, if your signature project is to take over five million people across a fast flowing river at its fullness, you will need a miracle for that to happen. When that assignment is given you by God, and you’re without your mentor, it complicates the matter. That’s the scenario for this leaders first day in office. There’s a preponderance of literature on what a leaders initial assignment could be, but most are written by non actors, or armchair academics. Tribune Online says that what is needed first is vision. ” The first assignment of a leader is the discovery and the articulation of the corporate vision”. Richard Osibanjo says, you have first to establish credibility. Listen, ”…your first assignment is to establish personal credibility with your new team. People will not listen to a message if they don’t believe in the messenger”. The argument may continue, but Joshua had to solve a problem. Has anyone been there? You need a divine help to handle a divine assignment. Joshua did not read these exposes. They were written in 2015 and 2017 respectively. What was your signature assignment? Who helped you? Joshua depended on the leadership of the Holy Spirit. When he leads, you have no failure. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
