The First Born Drama

And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. Exodus 4:22‭-‬23 KJV

The first born in biblical times were given special responsibilities and rights. The first born male represented the prime of a man’s accomplishments. So the first born right had a double portion of the estate if the father died. After the rescue from Egypt, God commanded all first born of human and animals to be consecrated to Him. In this read today, God sends a message to Pharaoh that Israel is His first born. Pharaoh was to let Israel go or they will loose their first born. They probably thought this was a joke. God was not in this for a game. This was the final straw that broke Pharaoh. The first born concept reached a climax in Christ Jesus. Rom.8:29, Col.1:15 and echoes the prophetic reference in Psa. 89:27-28. He is called the first begotten in Heb.1:6. By conquering death, He became the first born from the death,(Rev1:5) to guarantee our resurrection. When the enemy fights the church, the gets into a direct confrontation with God. You are Gods first born. You are qualified for a double portion today. Christ died, releasing you to inherit the blessings of the first born. Congratulations.
