And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Exodus 32:9-10 KJV
Intercession describes standing in the gap for someone else. It is a prayer done by one for another. Here we are with God angry at the people of Israel. He is requesting Moses to agree with Him so He could wipe away a whole generation. The first thing to notice is that He is God. He could jolly well do anything He wants. There is however a spiritual principle that God had given the earth to man. Unlike the devil, prayer is the route through which God may strategically enter into the earth to cause a change. That prayer has to be done by men on earth. Moses knew this too. So Moses began interceding on behal f of his people. According to the word, Moses is advancing strong reasons why God may not do what He wants( Isa.41:21). Moses was far removed from the camp on Sinai with the Lord. He could not change anything from where he was. He could only reach there and cause change by intercession. Intercession has no regard for distance. It will change things for a rebellious child lost in drugs and alcohol. That’s why the devil hates intercession. It Gods powerful tool for ruling the world. Intercession was part of Jesus’ ministry here on earth( John 17; Luke 22:33 ,). He continues this in heaven for us today ( Rom.8:34; Heb.7:25;1John2:1 ). This is referred to as Christ’s priestly ministry. Are you far from a loved one? Intercession.
