The Leaders Intercession.

Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. Numbers 14:15‭-‬16 KJV

We owe a lot to Ruth Haley Baton for the core message of this vignette. She has done a tremendous work on the leaders problems which sets any leader praying. ”When people start to fix blame on the leader for all that is going wrong, the loneliness and disillusionment can be blinding. And yet this tendency to complain and blame the leader is one of the most predictable patterns we encounter in leadership. As a wise person once remarked, ministry would be great if it wasn’t for the people!”. Neither would leadership hold without the people. It is for these reasons that a leader must learn to take his problems to God in prayers. Note that the leaders prayer is not, ” God bless me, my wife and the two children! ”. Check every statement in the prayer, non wa about his family or his father’s family. He could have allowed God go have His way with the people. Then he wouldn’t have been this leader. Intercession is a leaders means of expression to change situations and circumstances. John Hyde was such a leader. So is Uma Ukpai. So was Benson Idahosa. Any serious leader will be so driven by His peoples actions that he will have no where else to go but on his knees unto God
Until the leader learns to prostrate before God, he is just a ruler in big clothes.
