The Power of Our Words

Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Numbers 14:28 KJ

The people of Israel had declared in their sinful murmuring that they wished they had died in the wilderness ( Num.14:2 ). Now God is taking them up on their word. Its a kind of oath that says you will get what you wished for. They could defeat the mighty Egyptians under God, but they cowered for the Amalekites and Caaninites. Those ten spies died immediately( v.37 ) as a mark of reprimanded justice. God was focused to discipline every murmuring and wrong speaking. The promise of God was now going to be fulfilled in their children whom they feared were going to die in the wilderness. God took care of their children. James McDonald explores the contemporary version of this attitude in the wilderness in a book titled, ”Lord Change My Attitude Before Its Too Late”. He says we are often living in a Spiritual and emotional wilderness without realizing it. Our response to Gods demands ate very important. We are to do all things without murmuring. Imagine if Jesus murmured that the Father and the Holy Spirit tool the lighter job, and let him suffer. Just imagine that. There would have been no salvation for you and I. May you not murmur in your next assignment. Help us Lord.
