The Real Arrival From Moab

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:16‭-‬17 KJV

Its been some years since Naomi and Ruth returned from Moab. The truth is she had not actually returned. She was still living with all the trappings of her tragedy. She was still bound by her past. However, in a study done in Arizona University, and reported by Ana Swanson in March 2016, it quoted Infurna that when people suffer tragedy similar to what Naomi and Ruth underwent, they may not always respond with resilience: ”…contrary to previous research, resilience is not the most common response. It’s more likely that the individual is going to show decline in well-being, but over time will be able to recover and return back to their previous level of functioning,” Infurna said. We think the arrival of this child brought Naomi back to full function, and consoled her. To her, she finally came back from Moab. Did you notice the chorus of women continued? They are the ones who gave the name, Obed. This demonstrates that Naomi is accepted again as part of the Bethlehem society. She’s no more Mara. Obed means, Servant of God, a worshipper. What a name! God had requited Naomi. Your story is better. I’ve seen the book. Your story didn’t end at the cross of your troubles. You are accepted again. God, I would love to preach this. The enemy has lost the game. Welcome home.
