And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. And they set them up Micah’s graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
Judges 18:30-31 KJV
Days have gone by. The progenitors of Jehovah’s revival appear to be restricted to Shiloh. Tribes, in the name of freedom were now worshiping whatever they liked, even stolen gods. Nobody appears to be disturbed that the worship they were into was just spoils of war by five people. Now it is a state worship. Be careful what you do and pass unto your children. Steve Rose on August 15,2019 lamented in the Guardian review of Documentary films, ” Devil’s advocate: Are satanists now the good guys in the fight against the evangelical right? ” He was commenting on the release of a movie by Penny Lane. When you read such articles, you arrive the same conclusions as the children of Dan: How did we get here, from the worship of Jehovah? You would have thought we could learn from history, but we haven’t. What started as private backsliding is now a state disaster. The writer of the book of Judges must have felt a sense of judgment looming he attached the phrase ” …all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.” God was still there. Who do you worship now? In Acts 17:23, the Greeks had a temple to the ”unknown god”. Paul latched unto it to introduce Jesus Christ. Does your community know what Christ came to accomplish for us? May we not loose track of our worship, in Jesus Name.
