They Stole gods and its Priest

And these went into Micah’s house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?

The backsliding in the land had gone so deep that a whole tribe of Dan was now involved in idol worship. They could descend so low as to steal gods and its priests from a single individual. They make it like they went to retrieve gold. They went for gods that were bought for Micha’s family. Notice again how the levite was following the highest bidder. His concern was not the will of God, but food. There are many today who are like this Levite. They follow the highest bidder. When he was told he could be a Priest for a tribe instead of one nan, he kept quiet. It looks like business was going to boom. I can’t help thinking about what the opinion of Moses and Joshua could have been. Here is J.C. Men may profess loudly, while their feelings are warm, as Peter did; and then, in the hour of trial, deny their Lord. Men may lose their first love, as the Ephesians did.
