All over scriptures, it is the Lord who wins battles on behalf of His children. Today, we are reminded by Joshua that all the victories they had enjoyed is not because of the superiority of their weapons, but because God fought for them. A cursory look at the word is very comforting. In Gen.31:22-24, God warned Laban not to touch Jacob. In Exo.14:14, Moses told the people of Israel that the Lord will fight for them while they hold their peace. Joshua5:13-15, God appeared as the captain to win the battles. In 2nd Kings, God blinded a whole army of Assyrians. We can go on. In the New Testament, there’s such a preponderance of Gods influenced victories that Paul summed it up: ” I can do all things through Christ…”.(Eph.4:13). And you can. So Joshua reminded them who wrought the victories and who will do the rest. The promise of victory is still ours today.( 1 John:54; Rom.8:31-32; 1Cor,15:57 ). What are you experiencing? Its not meant to swallow you. God is fighting by your side. You need to have the confidence that He will win again. Joshua departed in confidence. God will do the rest.
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Joshua 23:9-10 KJV
