‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6:10‭-‬11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ [10] So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. [11] And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.

Obededom was a Gittite, probably because he was from Gath-rimmon). As a Philistine , he was servant in the service of King David. David Robberts describes him,” Obed-edom is an illustration of the service rendered to Hebrew religion by foreigners, reminding one of the Simon of Cyrene who bore the cross of Jesus (Matthew 27:32, ). We remember that the Ark had been in the house of Abinadap for over twenty years after it was returned by Philistines (1 Samuel 5:1; 7:1–2). It was bringing in the Ark that caused the breach on Uzzah. In the three months that the ark was with Obededom, the man was blessed unusually. Nancy Tan in Sage Journal, Vol.32:Issue 2 explores how this foreigner became a Levitical household name in the books of Chronicles. Another schokar says, ” We can infer from this that Obed-Edom was a God-fearing man and showed proper reverence for the ark, unlike Uzzah who may have become overly familiar with it while it remained in his father’s house for twenty years”. Obededom was blessed and the news went to town. You can’t keep God in your house and not be blessed. Your family altar is the beginning of keeping the ark in your house. Obededom later became a doorkeeper in the tabernacle, yet he was a foreigner. His children were now counted as Levites. You can change your story by your service.
