Davids Response To God’s Benevolence

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭7:18‭-‬19‬ ‭KJV‬‬ [18] Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? [19] And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

In 1997, The Maranatha Praise Band released the song from Psa. 61:2. ” Hear my Cry, O Lord ”. Its essence seem to capture David’s reaction more at this moment than the cries of that psalm. A phrase of the song says, ” When my heart is Overwhelmed…”. David was surely Overwhelmed here. Read the entire chapter and feel David’s submission to God. God so rewarded his motives that he was moved. He went in and sat down before the Lord, the entire time. Peter DeHaan explains what it means to be Overwhelmed by God when the temple was dedicated. ” …we can conclude that God’s presence was so significant that all activity ceased”. In Davids case, its the love of God that was so significant. It is the kind of love we felt at our salvation. Do you remember how you felt? Did you feel happy and wowed by Gods love, despite your sinful condition? I know a friend who couldn’t stop crying. He thought he was so gone, but love found him. Don’t forget that we got here because of David’s wish to do something for God. What would you like to do for God today? Your thoughts are very important to God. Be careful how you think.
