Rest In The Midst Of Your Enemies

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭7:1‭-‬2‬ ‭KJV‬‬ [1] And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies; [2] that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains

Sometimes it looks like we will never rest in spiritual warfare. We appear to exit one problem to the next. So we wonder: Will we ever rest? God understands the feelings, so He provides for us a rest in Him. In our passage, God gave David rest round about, though he was surrounded by enemies. Joyce Meyer describes this kind of rest, ” Now the rest of God is not a rest from work—it’s a rest in work. It’s partnering with God to do what He is calling you to do by His grace, and leaving the part you can’t do in His hands, trusting Him to do it. Hebrews 4:3 says it this way: For we who have believed enter that rest… So we start by believing”. It good to read more of that in Heb.4:9-11. There’s a rest of God. For a child of God, living by faith is what calls forth this rest. It is not that the enemy will ever stop. It is when we enter that rest then we will be able to work in the house of God. Gods rest is in our having faith in His help. All through the Old Testament, there are types in Gods test: Ex.33:14, Ex.23: 12, 1Kings 8:56, Job 34:29, Isa.26:3-4. We could go on. The warfare nay appear long, but God has provisions for your rest. Pur your trust in Him.
