The Ark Returned

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6:14‭-‬15‬ ‭KJV‬‬ [14] And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. [15] So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

It has been over twenty five years, but the ark finally returned to base at Zion. It must have been an exciting day for David and Israel. Rich Rinfuss says, ” A little research in the New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible reveals that “girded with a linen ephod” means David was dancing while wearing a ceremonial loincloth – and nothing else.” Wikipedia reports differently, ” According to the Talmud, the wearing of the ephod atoned for the sin of idolatry on the part of the Children of Israel.”. Whatever it might have been, David danced and celebrated the coming of the ark into Zion. Susan Pivot says, ” But if David was indeed scantily clad, and he danced in front of other women revealing his privates, then I’m with Michal! She’s totally right! Flinging yourself around in your tighty whities (or a loosie loincloth) invites scorn.”. Opinions differ but it resulted in the exclusion of Davids wife from the King till her death. Our concern is that the ark finally came home to Zion. Make sure there is such a resting place in your home for God’s resting place. Let it be your regular meeting point for you and the family.
