Gideon was threshing wheat by the winepresses, hiding it from the Midianites. Yet he was going to be a very different person from the encounter with the Angel of God. God does not choose us so much by our abilities to do, but by our willingness to work with Him. Isn’t it exciting that God called him a man of valour before he did anything? God judges us by our potentials, not by who we are by the moment. You are more than people may see now. A floating iceberg shows only a quarter of its real size. You’re like an iceberg. People are yet to see what you’ll become when God touches you. In the New Testament, 1 Cor. 3:18 shows how the transformation occurs as we are changed into His image. We will read later how this fearful man was so changed that he lead a team of three hundred men to discomfit the enemies of Israel. From thirty two thousand men, God pruned them to three hundred. You think you are incapable? Let God use you as Gideon, and you will shock yourself. Note God insistence that He will be with him. That’s all it really takes…God with us. That’s the name of Jesus…Emmanuel. Do you have a call? Are you afraid? Don’t worry, go ahead like Gideon and tell us the testimony later. I’m excited about what God will do with you. Hallelujah.

The Call Of Gideon
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?…. And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
