This was their story. It was going to be their victory. They lost it for fear. The Amalekites and the Canaanites appear to become the center of the story now….Eh,.. but their story is in parenthesis. A parenthesis is, ” a word or phrase inserted as an explanation or afterthought into a passage which is grammatically complete without it, in writing usually marked off by brackets, dashes, or commas ”. There’s a deep implication for this parenthesis. The story of those who rebelled against Gods promises will end where they wanted to be: in the wilderness. Now its their children who will enter the promise. Did you feel the sense of loss as they were given that instruction? I did. You are at the very edge of your breakthrough, then all hell breaks loose just because of a bad decision. Don’t do that thing. Don’t give up. Hold unto Gods promises. He will see you through. They all signed their death sentence to die in the wilderness. They were to wonder around for the next forty years. Do you feel the pain? What could have happened is now taking the longer route. The Amalekites and Canaanites dwelt on the hills, but had now come to the valley to wait for them. The people of God had to retreat into the wilderness. That has never happened before throughout this journey. Are there certain decisions life that had become the watershed of your undoing in life? Christ can still forgive you. They died in the wilderness, but you have a chance for change today. Don’t miss it.
