The Test Of Your Maturity In God.

‭‭2 Samuel 16:5-6 KJV‬‬ [5] And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came. [6] And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

Maturity is the state of being fully developed, spiritually, emotionally, mentally or physically. It is manifest in your ability to control your responses when provoked. David could have had Shimei killed, and no one would have asked David about it. Instead, David restrained himself and his soldiers from falling into that trap. Shimei even threw stones at them. This man demonstrated the depths of satanic provocation that had been bottled up since David became King instead of Saul. This ability to restraint is what so many need to escape the trap of the enemy. Well, Shimei didn’t go scot free forever. He used his mouth to restrain himself to only Jerusalem at David’s return. The day he ventured outside to pursue a servant, he died. Don’t mock people’s tragedies. Don’t involve yourself in the thought of people destruction. I’ve heard of a man who thought another was going to perish, and died that same night. God knows how to fight your battles. It takes maturity to control your emotions at provocation. A better time is coming. God knows how to recompense everyone’s reward.
