The Blood Shall Speak

And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land. Exodus 4:9 KJV

Moses asked for a sign. God gave him three. This is the third sign to show there was nothing to fear. The water of the Nile was turned to blood. The Nile river is believed to be one the longest in the world, passing through nine countries. It provides food, materials for building, transportation and a lot more in the economy of Egypt till today. While much of Egypt lies in the desert, the Nile valley is fertile, and is famous for papyrus, flax and wheat. Ancient Egyptians considered the Nile as the father of life and a gift from the gods. So you will understand what it means when its water is turned into blood. It was a quiet announcement that Moses had power over the land and all the powers of Pharaoh. So Moses had two things: the word of God, and the power of God. These are the marks of an Apostle in the New Testament, and the very elements Christ had to bring victory. You would have thought that after these, Moses would be willing to leave for Egypt immediately. The drama continues tomorrow. For today, there is Gods confirmation of the call of Moses. What are the signs of your calling?
