Authorized and UnAuthorized Messengers.

‭2 Samuel 18:19-20 KJV‬ [19] Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies. [20] And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king’s son is dead.

Here is a crucial quote from K.C. Barr, ” Almost every facet of our lives is influenced not only by the content of messages sent, but also by the messengers delivering them.” Bar was speaking on the psychology of message perception in advertisements. Bars observations applies to this verse. Ahimaz the son of Zadok had desired to carry the news of Absalom’s demise to David. But he was not sent. He was just an excited person. Some people in life have become excited about the work of the ministry, but they are not sent. When you are not sent, you won’t have the message to deliver. The work of the ministry is not about excitement or the wearing of suits and flowing dresses. It is not even about how fast you can run. Its about the message. What did God give you? Joab was very clear, the messenger of the day had to to be knowledgeable in how to deliver the news of the death of the Kings son. It wasn’t Ahimaz. Joab knew that the delicate message could be carried by Cushi. God has given every messenger a special message. You are not a generalist. You have a word for your time and season. That is the one you run with. Well, eventually Joab agreed for Ahimaz to run. He even outran Cushi, but was pushed aside because he had no message. Don’t be frightened by those who outrun you. Just hold unto your message. Your time will come.
