Her Hap…

And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
Ruth 2:3 KJV

The word ” hap” is an archaic word for good fortune. So her fortune was to have gleaned in a special place. This sense is lost in many translations. Some say: by chance(CEB), It turned out( NIV), she happened ( AMPC). These translations take away the mystery of God’s arrangements. Things don’t just happen. Before she left, she told her mother in law who did not just give her a release, but must have prayed for her. The release triggered heaven to send her into a place of destiny. She could have gone anywhere. That is why the ” hap” is the answer. Fortunes they say favours the brave. That was in chilvaric times. Fortune is an ally of the patient appears to be true here. Our concern is what KJV translates as ” hap ”. That word is Ruth’s turning point. Psalm 126 is entirely rooted on a ” hap ”. It is when the Lord turns things around. All I’m trying to show is that ” hap ” is an arrangement by God. Isa.41:13. Micah 7:19 gives the assurance that He will turn to us again. Child of God, your hap is by the corner. You could have suffered a while( 1Peter 5:10 ). The hap was to settle Ruth. You’re next in line for settling. Its your turn now. Hallelujah!
