The Assurance of His Word

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: Joshua 8:1 KJV

It’s so significant that after all the troubles, the only thing God gave the people was a word. That’s all that was available to change things. You would have thought there should have been an appearance of a heavenly host armed to the teeth as experienced by Elijah. Nope. God just left them a word. Imagine if you are Joshua returning to the camp with…” God said..”. Have you ever been in a debacle and the only thing that happens is just a word? Micah Stampley understood this well when he sang, ” Speak into My Life”. We wish we could reproduce the entire song here. One stanza says, ” One word I’m living this moment on a word
Not just any word but a word from you
A word that says I’m healed delivered and set free
There are no more chains holding me (Can I get a witness out here) ”. Mitch Marlowe in a Faithlife sermon eulogizes the Bible as Gods word. ” It’s words are true, accurate, and totally reliable. It is hands down the best book we could ever read, study, or meditate in it. It is the Book of life for life! It is our instruction manual for humanity ”. That word is Jesus, John tells us. Just one word from the book will give us the same confidence that Joshua had this time…..just one word. Peter walked on water on a word. May God give you a word today.
