The Laver of Brass

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. Exodus 30:17‭-‬18 KJV

We stated in an earlier post that there were seven pieces of furniture in the tabernacle: the ark, the mercy seat, the altar of incense, the table of shewbread, the lamp stand, the altar of brass and the laver of brass. This will conclude our discourse on the furniture’s. The seven pieces were divided: two in the outer court, three in the Holy place, and two on the Holy of Holies. The Laver was one of the furnishing in the outer court, made also of brass as the brazen altar. The primary purpose of the altar was for the cleansing of the Priest before they minister in the tabernacle. The Laver represents Christ’s continuous ministry of cleansing until we are presented blameless before the throne.( Jude 24 ). Vernon McGee says the second meaning applies to the work of the Holy Spirit in His present ministry on earth. That’s why the Spirit Convicts and brings us to repentance through the ministry of the word of God. The cleansing by the water in the laver speaks of our sanctification through the word of God.( John 15:3 ). The word of God cleanses us by correcting us on a daily basis( 2 Tim.3:16 ). Do you allow the word to act as a cleanser to your life? Does the word have a meaning for you, and not necessarily for someone else ? These are rhetorical questions just for your personal answers.
