The Strong East Wind

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:21‭-‬22 KJV

Winds are used as a metaphor in the Bible. In this verse, mention is given of an east wind. In other places, we are informed of the four winds as emanating from the four corners of the earth: north ,south, east and west. What is described as wind may also be translated as spirits. See Heb.1:7, and Zech.6:5 in NIV and ESV. We have: 1. The North wind which brings rain, growth and sustenance; 2. The South wind which brings peace , quiet and healing; 3. The west wind which drives off the devourer and brings the the promised rain of blessings: 4. The East wind which separates and clears the ground. Wind may be used as a positive symbol or as instruments of Gods judgment. In Ezek.37, wind brings in healing to the slain. Today, it divides the sea for the people of Israel to walk through. What you can’t do,God will do it for you by His winds. Keller is, however, of a different opinion. He thinks the winds are mere allegorical imageries or just practical. We believe these winds are executions of angelic beings. They are not just a vector quantity broken into zonal components. These angelic beings held the waters up. If God can do that for the old saints, what will He not do for you in the New Testament. The devil thinks he has you bound? Well, God has a better idea. He’s making a way in the sea, just for you.
