The Tangible Fear of God

I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. Exodus 23:27 KJV

Most times when we think of fear, we think only of things that frighten us to run away. This may be due to our perception of danger. That is fear in the negative. Positive fear is a feeling of respect and wonder to something or someone powerful. Paul David Tripp in a radio transcript describes this later fear as a reverential awe of God that grips your heart that you are willing to listen to His wisdom, willing to to submit to His commands, willing to surrender your will to His will, and you are willing to rest in the awesome promises of His grace. Sometimes what generates the positive fear for a child of God , generates dread or horror to the enemy. The Hebrew word used here is ‘:eymah’, which describes fright, horror and terror to the enemy. This kind of fear generated by Gods presence is to demobilize your enemies. That’s why whoever comes against you will run away from you. This is fear that the soldiers who went to arrest Jesus felt when he told them, ” I am he ! ”( John18:6 ). The word reports that they went backwards and fell to the ground. Today, get ready, the enemy is falling on your behave because His presence goes with you. Thirst for His presence every time.
