Glory over Me….

And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me. And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs: Exodus 8:1‭-‬2 KJV

This was the second plague. The release of the frogs was a possible judgement against the Egyptian gods, Hapi and Heqt. They were both pictured as frogs. Egypt was so idolatrous with a god for almost everything. Hapi and Heqt were supposedly the gods of fertility, the one giving Egyptians fertility in the land, and the other children. Here they were destroying other peoples children contrary to the expectations of their gods. The appearance of the frogs in their thousands must have shown them Jehovah’s sovereignty over their gods. For the first time Pharaoh acknowledges the authority of God. In v8, he called for a truce. That’s when Moses made the utterance of this title. It was Moses’s honour to retract the frogs. After this the magicians were finished. Any oppression from the gods that did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish. You would have thought after this Pharaoh was done. Wait till tomorrow. God is not yet done with the oppressors. He will let the people go. That includes you, your children and grands. Now you can dance.
