No Blemish For Ministers

No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
Leviticus 21:21 KJV

In the Old Testament, to be a Priest, you have to be born into the family of Aaron. Today you have to be born again into the family of Jesus. In the Old testament, the minister must not have a physical blemish. In the New testament, the minister must not have spiritual blemish. A blemish is a flaw or fault in the appearance of a person or a thing. It may also be a flaw or fault in the personality of a person or a thing. According to experts, physical blemishes may be caused by viruses, genetics, infections, clogged pores, sun exposure or even diets. Their treatment is often determined by the cause. Ernest Angely in an article published in 2013 describes the location of spiritual blemishes in these words: ” When your heart belongs to God, your soul is covered with the blood. But blemishes are not in the soul; they are in your spirit and in your life, and the Holy Spirit will help you to know if you have any so you can get rid of them”. Some of the spiritual blemishes he outlines include ego, self justification, pride, talking about others, unbelief, looking at the wrong things, like pornography etc. Blemishes are very destructive. It the reason Anaias and Saphirra were killed in the new testament. They tried to introduce a life pattern of lying into the church.
The New testament standard is in Eph.5:26-27. So when you aspire to be a minister, be sure to deal with blemishes. They are the little foxes that spoil the vine.
