Suspension of Perception

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. Exodus 3:2‭-‬3 KJV

This event relates to a major study in the theory of perception by Jonathan Crary, In 2000, he published a book by this title. Crary sets out to examine ”Modernity and the Problem of Attention”. He sees attention as changes in our perception. We will allow the academics to continue their disputations. Let it be noted that God did not need a Crary or any artists he refers, to provide a model for this attention. The miracle was to get the attention of Moses. Charles Swindoll says that it is attention to details that separates something good from something great. God created this atmosphere for what was about to happen. So Moses turned his attention to the burning bush that is not burning. That’s all God needed. He will do something similar to get your attention. The devil will do everything to get you distracted from God. If you learn the secret of staying focused, you will receive divine instructions for life. Moses got a command to get Israel free. Who knows what God may reveal at your attention moments. In the midst of the demands of modernity, God still needs your attention to give you an assignment. Ask Paul, the apostle.
