The Mount of God

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. Exodus 3:1 KJV

Moses is now a Shepherd,taking care of the father in law’s sheep. Mount Horeb is the description given to the northern part of the Sainitic range. Sometimes the name is used interchangeably with Sanai. What is significant about its introduction is the appellation: the mountain of God. Horeb ordinarily means desert. It is here that Moses had his first major encounter with God. This is where he got the instructions to return to Egypt to deliver the people of Israel. There is a place for the beginning of everyone’s encounter. Usually its the place you will receive directions for your destiny. For Paul, its on the way to Damascus. For Christ, it was the cross. There is a place God is waiting for you. It is at that place that boys are separated from men. It is a place for life vision. This mountain will nark a dividing line between Moses’s past and the future. May you not miss your Horeb. Its the place of your encounter. You won’t remain the sane after it. Neither did Moses.
