The Company of God

And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way. Exodus 33:2‭-‬3 KJV

When God accompanies you, His presence is what you will feel. When God withdraws His presence, you will feel like Job, desperate. Here is Job, ” Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him..”(Job 23:8‭-‬9 KJV). Have you ever searched like this for God? That is what generated the deep mourning among the crowd. Have you ever done something you thought you will enjoy, only to feel naked without God? Adam and Eve experienced it. Note that this angel is written in lower case indicating a low status accompaniment. Suddenly, there was real penitence. They stripped themselves of all ornaments. Sometimes we need to strip like this without pretense and cover ups. Its the only way to get back to Him. In October, 2021, I shared a vignette on how Jonah fled from God’s presence. On August 31st this year, we addressed the Angel of His presence. Look up on those notes. When the accompanying presence is lacking, you will loose two things: His glory and His power. The people of Israel understood these. The Father just turned away for a moment because of the sins of the world, and Jesus cried desperately. Have you ever cried for God’s presence? I have. May His presence answer your needs.
