The Lord Our Victory

And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah–nissi: Exodus 17:15 KJV

On Nov,2021, we first mentioned the matter of altars. The word was first used in Gen8:20 when Noah celebrated the protection of God after the flood. In that vignette, we described an altar as a meeting place between the physical and the spirits, built as a result of an encounter. Today, Moses has built an altar because of Gods benevolence in granting them victory. He calls it Jehovah-Nissi, which means Yaweh is the banner, under which victory is certain (Albert Barnes). John Gill says this fitly applies to Christ who is both the altar, the sacrifice and the Priest. Christ must be lifted up in all aspects of our lives if we are to win our battles. Today, we have a daily opportunity to activate the altars for our victory. Our bodies are the very mobile altars that we can consecrate to God for there to be a flow between the spirit realm and the physical. How often do you poke the fires of your personal altar? Its the difference between victory and failure. Sometimes we get too busy to poke the fires by our casualness to prayers. The enemy enjoys that. Its time to shake off the beast and get the fires started. He is still God our victory. Lift up the banner.
