The Mystery of the Third Day
The target of the sanctification was towards the third day. That is the time God was to make an overt manifestation to the people. The concept of the third day runs throughout the entire Bible as a prophetic timeline. The number three is regarded in prophetic time as a perfect number. So are seven, ten and twelve. Michael Hunt says it signifies completeness or perfection, pointing to what is real in salvation history. Justin Dillehay says there is a visible pattern of God doing big things on the third day in the old testament These are redemptive, revelatory and, of course, resurrection things. Today, God’s instruction to Moses is to be ready against the third day. Here are a few Bible verses on the third day: Hosea 6:2; Luke 24:7; Mark 14:58; Luke 24:1-53. According to prophetic timings, 2Peter 3:8 explains that today can fit into the same pattern as Israel in Sinai. Since the resurrection….two thousand years have rolled by, and each is one day. So in 2022, we are just at the beginning of the third day. We may be the generation to witness the very austere supernatural manifestations of God’s power or even the return of the saviour just like they witnessed God’s outpourings in Sinai. We are at the beginning of the third day. How ready is your sanctification? That’s the crucial question today.
