Rahab was a prostitute. Period. She’s also listed in Hebrews eleven as one of the ancestors of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is Mathews report, ” Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab” (Matthew 1:5) ”. Secondly, she was a Canaanite, not a Jew. She was not qualified to be in Hebrews hall of fame. That is if you and I were the judge. Well, it pleased the father of our Lord to include her because of what she did. It takes real faith to be a prostitute, yet believe as she did. ”Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token( v.12 ). All her life, she had lived and traded for tokens. But she knew, there was a true token somewhere. A token is described as, ” a thing serving as a visible or tangible representation of a fact, quality, feeling ”. Today, be on the watch out for quality tokens. It may just be a red scarf, but it will save you and your family. She was an outcast on the city wall, but she became their saviour. James 2:25 records that Rahab was justified by her works. She became a part of history. Take a quality decision today for the sake of history.
