The Silent Cry of Moses

And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: Exodus 14:15 KJV

We had just finished a powerful service on faith, and God’s faithfulness to answer prayers. Then I went to the building site…. I sat down for a while, minding the rising lump in my throat. There was a difference between my faith claims and the real life situation. Yet I knew the word of God is true. Tears roll down my cheeks, and I muttered a silent prayer: Lord, help me! Someone walked by, and I cleansed my tears. Then, I felt a sense of shame. I thought great leaders don’t cry. I was wrong. Moses cried after great declarations of faith. Perhaps no one saw him, but God did. That is how we got to know about it. Have you ever cried as a natural expression of the weight of your confrontations? Its okay to cry. Authentic leaders do cry. Crying is a natural expression of strong emotion. The only thing is that you should cry unto God in prayers. One day I read in the Bible, ”Jesus Wept”(John 11:35). You are not alone. God feels your tears. Moses knew how and when to cry. So he went to God in tears. This verse is Gods reply to Moses’s cries. Moses got the answer: Go forward! That is for you too. Don’t stop. You might have cried, but you have to keep moving. There’s so much to make you cry, but keep pressing on. Imagine it when the sea opened up: part cry, and part laughter. God’s coming through. Go forward!
