Matters Arising on the Zelophehads

And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well. This is the thing which the Lord doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. Numbers 36:5‭-‬6 KJV

Moses is still around. He’s giving last minute instructions. God appear not to be in a hurry for him to depart. As we flip a few chapters, Moses is confronted with matters from a decision he had made earlier in Numbers 27. From the tribe of Joseph was a concern if the daughters marry into a different tribe. Moses showed the brilliance that can only cone from the influence of the spirit of God. The answer is simple. They had to marry within the tribe. That may look like a satisfactory answer for an old testament problem. The truth is that there’s still that clause today in the new testament. As a child of God, you can only marry within the Christian tribe.( 2 Cor. 6:14-18 ). You can’t marry an unbeliever with the intention to change him\ her. There’s an inheritance from from king Jesus that must be kept within the tribe. When a christian ventures outside the ” tribe ”, there’s always a consequence of beliefs, of language, of commitment and of priority. The intention is to take away the inheritance. Don’t let the enemy have it. Marry within the Christian tribe. Churches may differ, but there are many that we speak the same language. Marry within the Christian tribe.
